Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Whole Food Is Medicine unique?
Simply put, Whole Food Is Medicine does not use a cookie cutter approach to health. Dr. Amy uses a combination of scientific evidence plus unique characteristics of every individual she helps in order to devise a plan of action that meets each client's needs. Dr. Amy's doctoral training in health behavior change combined with her nutrition and dietetics credentials make her uniquely qualified to also assist people who are trying to make other lifestyle behavior changes including smoking cessation and stress management. Furthermore, Dr. Amy doesn't just talk the talk, she walks the walk! Dr. Amy never counsels clients to follow nutrition and health behavior practices she doesn't engage in herself! Finally, virtual appointments offered at a variety of time slots provide ultimate convenience for clients who are already over-scheduled in their lives. Never worry about being late because of traffic, weather, or some other circumstance that doesn't allow you to leave your current location to get to your appointment on time!

How do the virtual appointments work?
Virtual appointments (also known as telehealth) are in real time using encrypted video technology. All counseling and education is conducted virtually, with the added benefit of the opportunity for Dr. Amy to assess your eating and health environment. While some clients are a little apprehensive of their initial virtual appointment, many clients report they feel "less judged" when working with health providers over video appointments.

What computer requirements do I need to have?
For video chat appointments, you will need a computer with a microphone and webcam or a smartphone. Telephone meetings are also an option.

How long will it take for me to get results?
Whole Food Is Medicine focuses on lifestyle changes that work for you. There are no gimmicks or quick fixes. This means that the amount of time it will take to get the health results you are looking for will depend on the individual factors you bring with you. Many clients seeking services start to see the results they are looking for after 4-5 sessions with Dr. Amy. Clients with significant weight loss goals often choose to have at least 10 sessions with Dr. Amy over a six-month time frame.
